Case Study: Internode

Project Case Study: Internode

Date: 2014

Solutions: Data Centre Design & Construct

Location: Adelaide, South Australia

Internode is an Australian owned, national internet services provider. When Internode’s data centre in the Adelaide CBD reached capacity, it approached CSS for help.

Internode had taken over a defunct data centre that had been laying dormant for five to six years and CSS was given the task of recommissioning the site.

CSS identified the critical issues at the defunct data centre and set about implementing best practices to ensure Internode was provided with a reliable site solution for the long term.

The design was based on redundancy for Internode’s business. This started with two diverse electrical distribution feeds throughout the site being supported by paralleled diesel generators. CSS recommissioned a chilled water system that had not been properly decommissioned and gutted a 400 square metre space to create the main data hall.

Completing the project however, did not mean that our relationship with Internode ended. CSS now maintains the mission critical infrastructure on a 24×7 basis, which entails routine preventative maintenance.

CSS saves Internode time and money through this and Internode can rest easy knowing the site is being proactively monitored.
